International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

The International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, provided by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), invites applications from overseas Chinese language teachers. This scholarship serves the purpose of satisfying the growing demands of the International communities for qualified Chinese language teachers, and facilitating International education of Chinese language outside of China. The applications to Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JXUST) in particular for such a scholarship should follow the guidelines below, a version with reference to the Application Guide for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship 2023 released by CLEC:

I. ELIGIBILITY

All applicants shall be:

a)non-Chinese citizens;

b)Should be friendly to China, have no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the school;

c) In good physical and mental conditions, with good academic performance and conduct;

d) Aspiring to work in the Chinese language education and related fields;

e) Aged between 16 and 35 (as of 1 September, 2023), with the special allowance for the age limit of 45 for applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers and that of 25 for undergraduate student applicants.

Bachelor’s degree is needed; Priority will be given to applicants who provide the work contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or a proof to the same effect.

III. APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Online registration will be available from March 1, 2023 on the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website (cis.chinese.cn).

01 Log In

Log in to the website http://cis.chinese.cnand search recommendation institutions : Jiangxi University of Science and Technology.

02 Upload

Upload application materials online, track the application progress and feedback.

03 Confirm and Print

Scholarship winners need to confirm with the host institutions about the formalities needed for studying in China and print CIS certificate online.

04 Register

Register at JXUST on time as per the time stipulated in the admission notice.

IV. Application Deadlines (Beijing time)

May 15th ---- For new comers starting courses in September, 2023

September 15th ---- For new comers starting courses in December, 2023

November 15th ---- For new comers starting courses in March, 2024

CLEC will entrust an expert panel to review the applications. Decisions will be made based on HSK and HSKK scores and levels, and in consideration of country distribution as well as other factors. The results will be published about three months before the school starts.

V. POLICIES REGARDING CURRENTLY EMPLOYED CINESE LANGUAGE TEACHERS AND CHINESE BRIDGE AWARD RECIPIENTS

a) Currently employed Chinese language teachers:

Currently employed Chinese language teachers applying for the scholarship can be exempted from submitting Chinese Language Proficiency Test (HSK) certificates if they can provide proof of employment and a letter of recommendation from the institution where they work.

b)Chinese Bridge Award Recipients:

Applicants who have won the 2022 International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate in various Chinese Bridge competitions should submit their application documents along with their scholarship to relevant host institutions on the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website. VI. OTHERS

1. Please contact JXUST about curriculum and course listings.

2. Applicants shall be familiar with the specific criteria and deadlins for registration, and follow specific procedures to submit necessary documents.

3. Degree students shall accept the annual assessment under theAnnual Appraisal Procedures of International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship.

4. For enrollment and other matters during the COVID-19 epidemic, please contact JXUST.

4. Students who fail to pass the pre-enrollment medical examination, withdraw from school midway, or fail to report to school or suspend their studies without permission will be disqualified for scholarship.

Application Documents

1. For all applicants

A scanned copy of the passport page with your personal information

A scanned copy of score reports of the HSK and HSKK tests (within the two-year validity)

A recommendation letter by the head of the recommendation institutions

2. For degree scholarship program applicants

Provide a certification of the highest education diploma (or proof of expected graduation) and an official school transcript.

3.In-service Chinese teachers shall submit certificate of employment and recommendation letters provided by institutes they work for.

4. Applicants under the age of 18 shall provide certified documents signed by their entrusted legal guardians in China.
