Pakistan Karot Hydropower Station, the first hydropower investment project in China Pakistan Economic Corridor invested and developed by China Three Gorges Corporation, has been put into full commercial operation. Karot Hydropower Station is located on the Jhelum River in Punjab Province, Pakistan, with a total installed capacity of 720000 kilowatts. It is a priority project for energy cooperation in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and the first large-scale hydropower investment project. It is also a hydropower investment project written into the joint statement of the Chinese and Pakistani governments.
It is reported that six graduates of the Three Gorges Class of JXUST have worked in Karot Hydropower Station, and they play an active role in the construction of China Pakistan Economic Corridor as talents jointly trained by China and Pakistan. Among them, Tanzeel Ur Rehman, an outstanding international graduate of 2021, said that as the first batch of scholarship students for the Three Gorges Project, he not only learned professional knowledge and skills from teachers, but also felt the charm of Chinese history and culture and advanced Chinese style infrastructure development during his study in Jiangxi University of Science and Technology. Now that he has successfully graduated from JXUST and works in Karot Hydropower Station, he is very grateful for the care and cultivation of the university.
