1. When can new students apply for a residence permit?
After registration, new students should do health examinations in hospital. After passing the health exam, the office will give those students who need to apply for a residence permit the certificate of health form (those students who purchased insurance will also need a proof of insurance certificate). Finally, the authorized teacher from the school will lead the students to the Ganzhou Police Bureau for Emigration and Immigration Affairs to apply for the residence permit.
2. What documents should students bring when applying for the residence permit?
1) Original and photocopy of passport
2) Original and photocopy of visa(you must photocopy the most recent visa if multiples exist)
3) Resident permit application form(attach photos)
4) JW202 form(needed for the first time applying for residence permit after coming to the school)
5) 400-1000RMB(400RMB/11months, 800RMB/12-23months, 1000RMB/2 years or more)
6) A copy of the visa application guidelines supplied by the school.
7) Required documentation from the Ministry of Education.
3. Can I allow someone to act as an agent to apply for me?
This is not allowed. Because you must take photos at the place when applying, you must go in person to the Police Bureau for Immigration and Emigration Affairs to apply.
4. What if residence permit and visa expire?
Please be aware of your passport’s residence permit or visa’s period of validity in advance. You should apply to the International student office one month before your residence permit or visa expire.If you reside in China past this validity period it is considered illegal residency, which may result in a fine of 500RMB per day past the validity date. The total fine amount may not exceed 5000RMB. You may also be detained for a period between 3 and 10 days. If the matter is more serious, you may be forced to leave China within a set period of time.
